The Problem
Communities across Africa are trapped in poverty and it all starts with the water crisis. Children are most often responsible for gathering water, both for their school and their family. They spend hours away from class walking to open water sources that are typically contaminated. They stand in long lines to fill ther buckets and somtimes walk 2 miles or more, carrying 5 gallons of water back to the school or the home.
How can a child be well educated and thus escape poverty when they are frequently sick and always have their class time interrupted in order to gather water? How can a community break the cycle of poverty in these circumstances?
That's why Thirst No More has developed THE WELL EDUCATED PLAN to drill water wells at public schools in Tanzania. We believe Well Educated children will become the generation that breaks the cycle of poverty for their communities. Clean water makes it possible!
